about us
Nancy's Gone Green is an eco boutique with just one mission: to make our world a little bit more beautiful, every day.

We believe that fashion is the greatest form of artistic self expression on earth, and we’re here to help you create a stunning and personalized wardrobe (that happens to be planet friendly too).

meet nancy and mary

Mother-daughter founders Nancy and Mary have always shared a passion for the great outdoors and a love for beautiful design. After spending years shopping together at vintage stores and flea markets, they began selling pieces from their personal collections online. They had so much success with their “Recycled Chic” shop that they decided to take it to the next level. In 2008 Mary created nancysgonegreen.com, a fully stocked eco boutique complete with earth-friendly fashions both new and old. With Nancy designing the private label collection, and Mary scouting out the best new eco brands, this duo is committed to changing the world in style.

why green fashion?

Trust us: we’re just as obsessed with fashion as you are, and we’re not about to tell you to stop having fun with your personal style. Here’s the thing though – the fashion industry is doing real damage to our environment and to the people of our planet. Clothing manufacturers around the globe dump toxic chemical pollutants into the soil, the water, and the air we breathe, while paying workers unlivable wages and forcing them to work in sweatshop conditions. In the developed world, 20% of the average person’s carbon footprint comes from their consumption of apparel products. Yet most of us only wear about 5% of the clothes and shoes we have in our closets. That’s some serious waste doing serious harm!

combating "FAST FASHION"

You may have heard the term “fast fashion” before. It refers to the current trend towards clothing so cheap and so trendy that consumers (mostly women) can and must replace them every season of every year. These clothes are produced with the lowest standards of quality, and the most harmful environmental and labor practices. Unfortunately, disposable clothing is becoming the new normal.

Our message is simple: SLOW DOWN. We appreciate great design, lasting quality, and ethical production practices. We care about the materials that go into our products, as well as the people who produce them. We don’t follow trends that will disappear a month from now, and we don’t buy product that will fall apart after one season of use. We sell high quality, beautiful designs that are ethically produced and built to last. It’s called slow fashion, and it will help save the world.

fair trade is green trade

What makes a product “eco?” Anything recycled is by definition the most eco-friendly item you can buy. That’s why we’re committed to maintaining our roots with our secondhand shop.

What about new products? The materials must be organic, natural, sustainable, or recycled. Then the production process must have a low environmental impact and result in little or no pollution. Finally, we believe that caring for the earth includes caring for the people who inhabit it. We’re committed to only buying from sweatshop-free companies who pay fair wages.

Our mantra is green and fair. Not every product in our shop is ethically perfect on all counts, but we promise that the companies we work with are fully committed to the environmental and fair labor movements. They’re motivated by so much more than profits – they want to change this industry for the better.

making it affordable

Yes, some of our products are expensive (for good reason), but we promise to keep at least 50% of our inventory priced under $50. We want our movement to be accessible to everyone – not just the super rich.

We promise that every product in our shop adheres to our environmental and labor standards, no matter what the price. We also promise that the pricetag you see reflects real value. Higher prices translate into spectacular design, lasting quality, and impeccable environmental standards. Always.
