Made by women in Kathmandu, Nepal and surrounding villages using dye made from bark, roots, and the leaves of plants native to the region of Nepal. The group aims to improve the lives of its native artisans by empowering women to find a global market for their garments, and to improve the environment by using only certified organic cotton and 100% natural dyes. (These dyes mark a critical shift in garment dying and have significant implications for the Nepali ecosystem. Currently, waste from synthetic dyes is the largest chemical pollutant of Nepal's rivers, and these metals are carried downstream through thousands of miles of Indian rivers, potentially affecting the health of millions.)
